MISSION STATEMENT
The Truckee Carson Irrigation District (TCID) is a quasi-municipal corporation organized pursuant to Chapter 539
of the Nevada Revised Statutes (Irrigation Districts). Under its state grant of authority, among other powers, TCID is authorized to acquire, construct, operate, and control
facilities and structures relating to the distribution of irrigation waters. TCID is further authorized to contract with the Government of the United States in the exercise of
its powers -including the operation and maintenance of reservoirs, canals, dams, and power plants. TCID is presently under contract with the Bureau of Reclamation to provide
water delivery, operation, and maintenance for the Newlands Federal Reclamation Project - located in Churchill, Lyon, and Storey Counties (Contract No. 7-07-20-X0348).
The Newlands Federal Reclamation Project is one of the first such projects in the United States. Major regional project features include Derby Dam, Truckee Canal, Lahontan Dam and
Reservoir. TCID operates three (3) hydro-electric energy generation facilities, including two (2) at Lahontan Dam and one (1) at the 26-Foot Drop on the V-Line Canal. TCID is
governed by an elected board of seven (7) directors each serving a term of 4 years.
